Character Creation Info

BASIC IDEA

We are a Fairytales, Legends, and Literature Reincarnated site, which means that our characters are modern day reimaginings of characters from fictional stories. Anything written before 1950 is fair game, and if you don’t see a canon you want on a canon list, be sure to talk to an Admin about it and we will add it for you!

RATING

Because the board's M rating, we encourage adult characters. However, you may have characters as young as 14. This is to keep it fun and friendly for all of us! Violence, language, and sexual themes are fair game. Please use your judgement on what you can and can't handle, and be make sure that you and anyone you plan on threading with are on the same page. If your thread has any mature themes, mark it with an '[M]' ahead of it. It's sometimes hard to judge what constitutes 'mature' content, especially for new roleplayers, so if you have any questions, don't be afraid to ask a staff member!

BEING SOCIALLY AWARE

We love our unique characters, and we cherish the real-life problems that they can actually face. Drama is our friend. However, we are not out to offend anyone, or tokenize any experience. If your character is going to have a disability or a mental illness, do your research. Be aware. If someone with that same issue read what you wrote, would they be offended? If your answer is yes, rewrite it. Also, make sure to put trigger warnings on threads that warrant them. Trigger warnings are used to prevent people who have the potential to have an extreme emotional response to certain topics from encountering them unawares. Commonly, trigger warnings make note of threads that contain abuse (sexual, physical, or otherwise), self-harming behavior, and body shaming. If your thread contains references to any of these subjects (or similar ones), please put a trigger warning in the thread's description. Overall, be aware that members of our site, as with members of any site, carry a wide variety of identities and experiences, which makes the social experience of roleplaying very exciting, but also gives you responsibility to be respectful and conscious.

DIVERSITY

Diversity is wonderful, and please keep that in mind, because the admins will be using your other characters to judge your new ones. If we feel that a new character you are applying for is exceptionally similar to one or more of your current characters in appearance, attitude, history, or any other aspect, we may ask you to revise the character to make them more original.

FACE CLAIMS

We allow you to use models, singers, actors, and youtube stars, granted they are considered “well known”. However if a celebrity has asked that their image not be used for those purposes, please respect their wishes. See this linkfor a list of face claims who are off-limits. Also, please do not use a face claim that is younger than 13 years old, regardless of how famous they are. This is illegal, and could get our site shut down.

AWAKENING

AWAKENING

Here on OUAC, a character can be in two states: "dormant" or "awakened". When Cinderella's reincarnate is dormant, she has no idea that she's a reincarnate of Cinderella. When she's awakened, she is aware of her true identity. Your character can start out awakened, or can start out dormant, and awaken throughout the course of their OUAC career. The concept of awakening is completely up to your interpretation, and can vary from character to character. Often, characters' awakenings are "triggered" by something: a conversation, a strange event, a meeting, but this is certainly not necessary. Your character's life after they awaken is also completely up to you. Once their awakened, do they have a spirit following them around? Do they gain magical powers? Can they suddenly understand everything their cat says because their pet cat is the embodiment of who they are? If you are unsure of something, feel free to run it by an admin.

POWERS

POWERS

Some spirits may have a chance to have a power. A Magic Carpet character might be able to fly, or an Evil Queen character may actually be able to perform magic. Only awakened characters can have powers.
